It is a smart approach because you don't deprive your body of the things you love and crave, so it's easier to maintain for life. Since you are not putting additives and chemicals into your body, it recognizes the nutrition in everything you eat and uses it as the fuel your body needs. When you eat processed and refined foods (such as white flour and white sugar), your body doesn't recognize them as nutrition - it's more or less a chemical to your body.
At CustomFit, we promote eating clean because we see the positive impact it has on achieving fitness goals. Every week, we bring a clean snack to class for everyone to try and then we share the recipes.
Gingerbread Energy Bites
2 Cups pitted dates, roughly chopped
2 Cups toasted pecans, chopped
1 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp pure maple syrup
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp sea salt
Put chopped dates in a high powered blender and process until broken down into small bits or paste (will have to scrape down a few times).
Add the remaining ingredients and pulse until well combined.
Roll into 1-inch balls.
Keep stored in the refrigerator or freezer.
